Pedophile warning:
About 10 or 12 years ago it would have been nice to stay apart of an active friendly church of Christ, however during a youth gospel concert a guy who claimed he had his hands in everything concerning kids, in & out of the church decided to "secretly" follow around my young male relative, ask "grooming" questions, say things associated with "grooming" all when he thought no one was paying attention. Later that night I confronted him- I politely said "please stop talking to him & following him around-I see what your doing" ( I never accused him of being a pedo at that point) Immediately he went into a studdering rant saying he's not a pedo & saying all the programs he's involved with concerning kids- young boys- youth. I then told him people like him usually are, but that's one child he won't get. I'm not fooled. He looked guilty and crept away somewhere. After the fact the child's parents were informed, the child was asked a series of questions to know exactly what was said to him, etc.. Bottom line- that guy tried it. Our family went to the church one more Sunday without the kids then stopped going altogether. The youth programs listed on the website is one of the major reasons we all decided to attend the church in the first place- we were all excited and becoming full time members until that evening. We contiplated on informing the Pastor, but thought because nothing physical didn't happen enough to call the police, the church as a whole congregation would choose to ignore it as to preserve their image instead of investigate and watch that guy or ever question the kids that he claimed were under his guidance at the time. We prayed that he or no one would be able to harm kids in that way and if anything ever did happen he would be found out. I still think about it every now and then and wish we had at least mentioned the incident to the pastor in a letter or email. I hope our public silence at the time did not come with a cost of any child's expense. I hope that guy is no longer around kids.Added January 02, 2017 by Prosperity Bride
